Well with the GT upon us this weekend I thought I would put together a little blog post about my journey so far.

Following on from my poor showing at Caledonian earlier this year I went back and revisited some of the core fundamentals of the list I used to try and establish what worked and what didn’t.

In summary I was using Mephiston, Terminators in a Landraider, ASM in a Landraider, 2 ASM razorbacks, and 3 Autocannon, Las Predators. To cut it short, not enough scoring is how I felt. If a unit bounced or got unlucky I didn’t have enough redundancy to go with a plan B.

To address this I have replaced the ASM Landraider with 2 flamerback ASM units. Prior to the event I had been toying with scout bikers which Pete Cook uses to great effectiveness, I love how these can manipulate board control and give your opponent an extra dimension to consider. If they don’t then you can give them a nasty surprise if they don’t realise the potential threat they can bring.

So I submitted my list based on a bit of theory having not given one practice game with it. To be honest I thought I had loads of time but the fabled weekend in question really has snook up on me, to date I have had a grand total of 5 games with my army as it is now. Oh and I need to finish painting a lot of stuff too!

My next post tomorrow will give a run down of the two practice games I’ve had on Club nights against friends who are also attending the GT, and following that on Friday I will post about a small friendly tournament I played in where I got another 3 solid games under my belt. Also below you can find my list which I am about to begin this journey with.

Mephiston
Sanguinary Priest
Assault Terminators (2 Thunder Hammers, 3 Lightning Claws), Landraider
Scout Bikers, Combi-Melta, Melta-Bomb
Assault Squad, Meltagun, Power Fist, Flamerback
Assault Squad, Meltagun, Power Fist, Flamerback
Assault Squad, Meltagun, Power Fist, Bolterback
Assault Squad, LasPlasback
Predator, Las Sponsons
Predator, Las Sponsons

I think that’s it from memory.
So until tomorrow, when I should hopefully know my first opponents.
